The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has warned park home residents not to respond to a fraudulent survey sent out in its name. Residents on two Cumbria parks received mysterious letters on DCLG headed paper, asking for personal details about their homes and bills.

The Fair Trader scheme has recently been launched by the National Caravan Council with the aim to help consumers thinking of buying a caravan holiday home, or holiday lodge, to identify trustworthy parks that put the consumer firmly first - a 'peace of mind' guarantee that they are dealing with a business with high standards of customer care.

There has been an increased tendency of late, for owners to start using, or consider using their holiday home as their main place of residence, resulting in a fair amount of media attention.
