19.3.07 - Fraudulent survey making the rounds Print E-mail

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has warned park home residents not to respond to a fraudulent survey sent out in its name. Residents on two Cumbria parks received mysterious letters on DCLG headed paper, asking for personal details about their homes and bills.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has warned park home residents not to respond to a fraudulent survey sent out in its name. Residents on two Cumbria parks received mysterious letters on DCLG headed paper, asking for personal details about their homes and bills.

Park homes policy officer Mark Coram was alerted to the scam after an anxious call from Marcia Morgan, co-owner of Nepgill Park in Workington. Mr Coram, the letter's supposed signatory, said, "I want to stress that this letter has not come from me. I have not sent and have no plans to send, such a survey to park home residents.

If you get such a letter, you should tear it up immediately. If you receive any correspondence you are worried or suspicious about, you should inform us straight away."

The DCLG has passed on copies of the offending letter to the police who are investigating. Any residents who are concerned about this, or other scams, should contact Mr Coram on 020 7944 6226.
