The Western Isles are also known as the Outer Hebrides and are located off the Northwest coast of Scotland, you can travel there by ferry or air, the Islands are often cut off in winter. As you may expect there are vast expanses of white sands for long walks, and for the adventurous plenty of bike trails, surfing and kayaking.
Local fresh produce including lobster, crab, langoustines, scallops, beef and lamb are served up in local pubs where you can listen to traditional folk musicians playing.
For a bit of culture there are ancient sites of standing stones and Iron Age brochs (hollow-walled structures found only in Scotland) and you will also see famous Harris Tweed being weaved.
