Supporting Neurodivergent-Friendly Holiday Experiences

My safe place

For many neurodivergent individuals and families, finding the right holiday accommodation can feel overwhelming.

With 1 in 5 families affected by neurodivergence, uncertainty around sensory environments, unfamiliar routines, noise levels, lighting, or lack of clear information can turn what should be an enjoyable break into a source of stress or anxiety.

Here at Just Lodges we have partnered with My Safe Place Southern, with the aim to help change that.

My Safe Place Southern is working alongside holiday parks, manufacturers, and industry partners to encourage the development of neurodivergent-considered holiday accommodation — spaces that recognise different needs and offer greater reassurance, comfort, and clarity.

Neurodivergent-friendly features may look different from one location to another, but can include:

  • Accommodation designed with calmer sensory environments and safety in mind
  • Clear, upfront information about surroundings and facilities
  • Options for quieter stays or predictable layouts
  • Consideration for lighting, sound and space
  • Greater understanding and flexibiity from park teams

Importantly, this is not about creating separate or restricted experiences — it’s about offering choice, understanding, and transparency, so families can make informed decisions that feel right for them

Here at Just Lodges we shall be adding an icon to all those manufacturers and holiday parks joining into the scheme and making it easier for neurodivergent families to immediate recognise these parks in particular.

It is a slow process getting parks to come on board, but we are determined to get there and if you are thinking of purchasing your own lodge, we are delighted to advise you that My Safe Place Southern now have introduced their first retrofit package for parks to fit  to a lodge you want to call your own.

We are delighted to show you the first neurodivergent friendly holiday home now in place and taking bookings through Hoseasons at Wooler Riverside Holiday Park in Northumberland. The images in the gallery below are of this particular holiday homes.
